"There's not one cloud in the sky."
Her voice was so calm and soothing
and for a moment
she had distracted me from my dilemma.
I could hear cars driving by
and the rush of busy pedestrian traffic.
Momentarily I was confused and a bit lost.
If only this nice young lady knew
of the stark contrasts
between two strangers
walking together in the city.
"There's not one cloud in the sky"
as she continued.
Once again her soft tone
was like that of a reassuring angel
and it eased my tension.
"Are you alright Sir? Is there anything I can do to help?"
Apparently the light turned green.
I had dropped my white cane
and I started to cry as she walked away
because I never noticed
if there was a cloud in the sky today.
