Tallulah's poison hairpin

Picture

She went through

each husband

to inherit their will.

That's 7 and counting

and it gave the detective

a chill.

For he was the only one

who knew

of her guilt

on which his strong theory

was obviously

built.

You see

Detective Ki

had a very shrewd mind

and he knew in her hairpin

you could easily

find

the most lethal poison

in the touch

of a prick.

Of course his superiors

thought he was

a little bit thick

as Tallulah was the owner

of a shiny bald

head.

So how could a harmless hairpin

be a weapon

of dread?

Tallulah,

it was argued,

didn't even wear a wig

and such a revelation

seemed to be

rather big.

Once again

it was conjecture

because everyone knows

that Tallulah wore a bone

not a hairpin through her nose.

In the Victorian era

the truth vanished

without a trace

when the lack of forensic science

rendered it

a cold case.

The detective was committed

to a room

with no view

while Tallulah picked out

a husband

who was brand new.

He lived for four months

and became fatally

sick.

The autopsy

never discovered

his little prick.

What an intriguing little tale! Where is CSI when you need it? Splendidly clever, flowing piece!

All of my pieces are ad-libbed line by line and written up in about 20-30 minutes or so - sometimes the title comes first, sometimes it's the last thing I work on and as for the ideas - that is just my gift of being a creative genius. 12:10pm with both cats fed now so we are one big happy family . Thank you for your beautiful card, Miss Marsha, I loved it.

Dixie Chicks: "Goodbye Earl"

Idle comment...Tallulah Bankhead was my dear MIL's great Aunt...what a controversial, fabulous screen actress, perhaps most famous for her role in "Life Boat". My daughter's Aunt Baby's true name is Tallulah Bankhead - Jordan... just some trivia to go with your java and musical selection today, dear Colin.

Meet you at Vicki's for some waffles but I need to fix my hair...has anyone seen my...oh never mind!

Thank you Mighty Maria for indulging me with that information - and what a small world it is too . I remember seeing Tallulah in Hitchcock's Life Boat and she had quite a distinctive voice as I recall. Love your musical selections and how it ties in with the theme of my written piece. 12:05pm with first coffee after night shift sleep

Epi - this is the revised, modern version of Sleeping Beauty? The story seems familiar . . .but wait . . . Wrong gender . . .what could it be? . . . Ah yes . . . That little prick.

Naughty boy.

It's true, Vicki, that I am a naughty boy. Did you read the one about the captain who sailed in the wrong direction, lol, a few days ago? That one was real naughty, lol, but then again as dear Ruby said down below in her comment, it's just a play on words and could be all in your mind, not mine , lol.
Thank you for putting up with me - and this little prick came from the hairpin.
Colin, 7:09pm ready for nap now before work
