and now
it's within my reach.
I feel the warm sand
between my toes
on this sunny secluded beach.
It's so good to be back again
with those blue skies
above.
Paradise was once a place
in my mind
that I truly did love
but reality is the reason why
my life is slipping
away
and it will be a blessing in disguise
if I'm unable to see
another day.
For this Caribbean tide returns to the shoreline
to say goodbye
to my shortened breath
leaving me
in the stark desolation
of a lonely death.
In this snowbank
I am freezing
and my fate will be told
as a homeless person,
soon forgotten,
and left out in the bitter cold.
