to see my family
here
where memories
are not lost
and always clear.
This scrapbook of photos
reminds me
of you
and oh my dear sister
what you have gone
through.
Three children who lived;
one child
who died
and that most wonderful man
who made you
his bride.
Our family picnics
were always
fun
even though
I showed up
as the lonely one.
Forever in your shadow
I was mother's
second born.
By battling mental illness
this black sheep knew
only scorn.
You see,
if truth be told,
I had a woman's hope
that time was on my side
with the ability
to cope
and one day
a family could be
all mine
and everything
in life
just turned out fine.
My tears secretly stain
each turning
page
for this sister
who is approaching
a senior's age.
It's so nice to see
my family
here
where memories
are not lost
and always clear.
Although it's still a woman's hope
to have led
this life
as a dedicated mother
and a loving
wife.
